Does Macerated Skin Heal?

Living with macerated skin
Most of the time, mild skin maceration resolves on its own once the affected area dries out. However, people with incontinence or who stay in bed for long periods due to a condition have an increased risk of complications, such as infection.

How do you fix skin maceration?

Exposing the feet to the air – for a long enough period to get the skin to dry. Change to dry shoes and socks – so the maceration doesn't continue to get worse. Topical applications – to soothe the damaged skin or draw water out. Dry dressings – to absorb moisture from the skin.

Does skin turn white healing?

Maceration occurs when skin has been exposed to moisture for too long. A telltale sign of maceration is skin that looks soggy, feels soft, or appears whiter than usual. There may be a white ring around the wound in wounds that are too moist or have exposure to too much drainage.
