What is peganum Harmala used for?
Peganum harmala (wild rue, Syrian rue, African rue) has been used in traditional medicine in parts of the Levant as a sedative and abortifacient. It is also used as a hallucinogen similar to ayahuasca (see below).
Does Syrian rue make you hallucinate?
Taking 3-4 grams of Syrian rue seeds can cause hallucinations and stimulant effects. Syrian rue is LIKELY UNSAFE in higher doses. Serious side effects affecting the nervous system, heart, liver, and kidneys, as well as death, have been reported in people who consumed large amounts of Syrian rue seeds.
