Does Sakai Check for Cheating?

Nothing in Sakai prevents a student from cheating on an online test, so you must consider whether this is an issue for your course. An online test taken in an un-proctored environment is not much different from any other take-home assignment.

Can online tests detect cheating?

Online tests can detect cheating if students cheat or violate their academic integrity policies. They catch cheats by using proctoring software, cameras, and IP monitoring. However, without proctoring, online tests cannot detect if you cheated if you do it smartly or involve professionals to write your work.

What can professors see on Sakai?

The professor or admin will still be able to see that a user has logged into Sakai and visited the site. Private users' email addresses are not available to other users on the site, however, they will still receive notifications on new assignments, released grades, tests, and quizzes.
