Does Scabies Cause Welts?

Rash: Many people get the scabies rash. This rash causes little bumps that often form a line. The bumps can look like hives, tiny bites, knots under the skin, or pimples. Some people develop scaly patches that look like eczema.

Do scabies bites swell up?

It may be four to six weeks before a newly infected person will notice the itching or swelling that can indicate the presence of scabies. A re-infection will itch right away. The earliest and most common symptom of scabies is itching, particularly at night.

What can be mistaken for scabies?

Prurigo nodularis: This is a skin condition that causes firm, itchy bumps. They typically begin on the lower arms and legs. They may occur as the result of scratching or picking. Insect bites: Bites from mosquitoes, fleas, bed bugs, chiggers, and other mites, can look similar to scabies.
