Does Tetrachloromethane Dissolve in Water?

Carbon tetrachloride, also known by many other names is an organic compound with the chemical formula CCl₄. It is a colourless liquid with a "sweet" smell that can be detected at low levels. It is practically not flammable at lower temperatures.

Why does Tetrachloromethane not dissolve in water?

As CCl4 are non-polar compounds so they dissolves in non polar solvents but as water is polar solvents so it doesnt dissolve in such solvents.

Is Tetrachloromethane miscible with water?

A colourless volatile liquid with a characteristic odour, virtually insoluble in water but miscible with many organic liquids, such as ethanol and benzene; r.d. 1.586; m.p. –23°C; b.p. 76.54°C. It is made by the chlorination of methane (previously by chlorination of carbon disulphide).
