Domestic Gold Price Hits All-Time Highest in Myanmar - Xinhua

YANGON, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Domestic gold price continues appreciating and recently reached its new highest record of over 1.33 million kyats (951.7 U.S. dollars) per tical, state-run media reported Saturday.

The Friday's domestic gold price made a new highest record after it recorded high at over 1.3 million kyats (933.5 U.S. dollars) per tical in September last year.

Meanwhile, the global gold market is scaling up to 2,062 U.S. dollar per ounce on Friday.

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the country forced the local gold market to shut down in April and the market reopened with a minimum rate of 1.2 million kyats (867.2 U.S. dollars) in May, the official media said.
