Every Science Weapon (& Where to Find Them)

Aside from the planets, alien creatures, and spaceships, The Outer Worlds is known for out-of-this-world weapons. With a large variety of grenade launchers, plasma swords, and flamethrowers, The Outer Worlds’ weapons are at their wildest when considering its one-of-a-kind Science Weapons.

These weapons seem anything but scientific as they range in all sorts of supernatural types and effects. Many of the Science Weapons can also fit into varying RPG-class builds nicely too. So, here’s a quick breakdown of each one and where to find them.

10 Shrink Ray

Both the Shrink Ray and the Prismatic Hammer can be found by reading the captain’s notes on the Unreliable after being able to fly the ship. This will trigger the quest “Weapons From the Void,” which can lead to the first four Science Weapons on the map.

The Shrink Ray will shrink and damage enemies while firing a continuous beam of energy. Enemy proportions shrink down, and their voices get high-pitched, which is hilarious. Also, with a reduction in armor, this weapon makes tiny attackers more vulnerable to companion abilities.

9 Prismatic Hammer

At its best with a high science build, the Prismatic Hammer is an upgrade to any melee build and can be found on the Groundbreaker any time after you leave Edgewater and can fly the Unreliable. Perhaps the best of the Science Weapons, you can find this hammer by making the second left when entering the Groundbreaker’s hub.

Jump up the boxes on the left side of the crew quarters, crouch through the hole, take out the criminals on the other side, and you’ll find the hammer behind a door close by. With enough points in Science, the Prismatic Hammer has two attacks possible: It can sweep and damage multiple enemies in an area, or it has a knockback effect.
