Jakob Ingebrigtsen was born in Sandnes, Norway, on September 19, 2000. He grew up in a big family with six siblings; Henrik, Filip, Kristoffer, Martin, Ingrid, and William.

His father, Gjert Ingebrigtsen, is his coach and has won awards for his coaching. Their mother, Tone, works as a project manager at a hospital.

Despite their busy athletic careers, the Ingebrigtsen family has remained close-knit, with a deep sense of mutual support and encouragement.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen comes from a family of runners, with his two older brothers, Henrik and Filip, also being accomplished middle-distance runners.

Henrik is the oldest brother and competes mainly in the 1500 meters. He has represented Norway at the Olympics and has won medals at the European Championships multiple times.
