Gigi Hadid Wore My Favorite One-and-Done Fall Layering Piece

As soon as the temperatures drop, I dig through my storage and bring out my cold-weather jackets. I’m talking about puffer jackets, oversized blazers, heavy cardigans, and more. But there’s one silhouette I rely on no matter the season — and Gigi Hadid just wore it on the streets of New York City.

Getting some shopping done, Hadid made an appearance wearing a chocolate-brown leather jacket. The top layer featured an oversized, boxy silhouette, offsetting her flattering black jeans and slim leather loafers. Silver-toned hardware, split lapels, pockets, and a hefty belt completed the separate, sharing many of the same details as this faux leather moto jacket from Levi’s.

I’ve always had a thing for leather jackets, wearing them  for more than 11 years. They’re punk-rock meet chic, combining two very different — yet very complementary — styles. Think: Kourtney Kardashian post Travis Barker meets Meghan Markle on a date night. You wouldn’t think the two styles go together, but, boy, do they make for a fashionable yet tasteful combo. 

The merge between the two styles allows me to wear leather jackets with just about anything, including velvet dresses, knee-high boots, button-up shirts, cap-toe ballet flats — the list goes on. They’ve even become my one-and-done top layer of choice, as I always keep a black or brown leather jacket hanging by my door, just within arm’s reach.

Not to mention, Hadid just proved leather jackets can be worn year round; all it takes is a bit of layering. The model made hers extra cozy with a multicolored scarf and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) cardigan. (We love to see besties supporting besties.)
