Most astonishing, the same scribe wrote the entire manuscript – probably a monk at a Benedictine monastery in Bohemia (Czech Republic).

The manuscript was created in the early 13th century in the Benedictine monastery of Podlažice in Bohemia, now a region in the modern-day Czech Republic. The manuscript contains the complete Vulgate Bible, as well as other popular works, all written in Latin.
Where was the Codex Gigas written?
It is unclear exactly how the medieval manuscript came about. But we know that it was written in the Kingdom of Bohemia – now the western part of Czechia – sometime between 1204 and 1230.
