Hilaree Nelson was an American ski mountaineer who was found dead on 28 September 2022 after going missing for two days from Mt. Manaslu in Nepal. She held the record as the first female to summit two 8000-meter peaks: Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse in one 24-hour push.
Hilaree Nelson Found Dead!
Hilaree Nelson was found dead on the surface of Mt. Manaslu on Wednesday, 28 September 2022. She went missing on Monday, 26 September 2022 from just below the true summit of Mt. Manaslu in Nepal. She had earlier reached the summit of the mountain with her partner.
As per the reports, Hilaree slipped and fell into a 2,000ft (600m) crevasse only 15 minutes after reaching the summit of Mt. Manaslu. She fell just above the fore summit of the mountain and has gone missing since then. In the meantime, her partner was able to ski down the peak on Monday morning.
The rescue operations got hampered on Monday due to the bad weather. The next day, Nepalese rescue workers were able to use a helicopter to look for Hilaree.
Hilaree was previously married to her husband, Brian O’Neill. Brian served as a real estate agent. The two met in 2000 and immediately clicked. Eventually, the two decided to start a family together.
After their nuptials, Hilaree and her husband welcomed two kids together. Their first son, Quinn was born in 2007. Two years later in 2009, the couple was blessed with their second son, Grayden.
Unfortunately, Hilaree and Brian couldn’t keep hold of their marriage and they later separated with divorce. Their sons started living with their mother after that. Both of Hilaree’s sons compete in alpine racing.
