How do I boot from D drive instead of C?

System Partition on D Drive Instead of C Drive

  1. Right click C & select Mark partition as active.
  2. Open an elevated command prompt & type bcdboot c:windows /s c:
  3. Shutdown.
  4. Plug C drive into SATA0.
  5. Plug the new D drive into SATA1.
  6. Power on the PC & go into the bios.
  7. Verify the boot order of the hard drives.
  8. Reboot.

How do I change the boot order in Windows 10 BIOS?

Once the computer boots up, it will take you to the Firmware settings.

  1. Switch to Boot Tab.
  2. Here you will see Boot Priority which will list connected hard drive, CD/DVD ROM and USB drive if any.
  3. You can use the arrow keys or + & – on your keyboard to change the order.
  4. Save and Exit.
