- Hold the shift key when you see the Grub screen, to get to the grub options.
- you may have better luck holding the shift key all the time through the boot if you have a fast system.
- Choose Advanced options for Ubuntu.

How do I change kernel in Linux Mint?
Go to Advanced options in Grub menu. Select the kernel version you want to boot into. This will activate the kernel you want to make active. Then go to Update Manager > View > Linux Kernels.
