Lay slices of oranges on paper towels and blot as much juice from the oranges as possible. Place several clove studs in each orange slice. Transfer orange slices to the prepared baking sheet, not touching, and bake for 4 – 6 hours, turning periodically so that they can dry on both sides.
How do you dry orange slices naturally?
- Preheat your oven to 170 degrees F.
- Slice the oranges into 1/4 inch slices.
- Lay the slices on an oven safe rack, then place that rack on to a cooking sheet. This will allow air to flow around the oranges as they bake.
- Bake for 6 hours. Turn the slices over every hour or so.
How do you dry orange slices without them turning brown?
Place the oranges in a single layer on top of a wire rack placed on a cookie sheet. Having the warm oven air circulating all around the citrus slices will allow them to dry slightly more quickly. Do not place them directly onto a cookie sheet or they will stick and become gummy.
