How Does a Bolt Lock Work

The BOLT Series of locks lets you set all your truck, trailer and equipment locks to work with one key – your ignition key! Simply insert the truck’s ignition key into the BOLT lock, turn it once and the lock mechanically and permanently learns the key code. But convenience isn’t their only benefit.

How do dead bolt locks work?

How does a deadbolt lock work? Because deadbolt locks operate without the use of a spring, simply turning a key retracts or extends the bolt into the strike plate on the door frame. As they’re not spring-operated, this makes them much harder to be jimmied open with a crowbar or other device.

Can a bolt lock be reset?

BOLT Locks cannot be reset. For security reasons all BOLT Locks permanently learn the first key used on them and cannot be reset. This feature is to keep someone from walking up and resetting your lock, causing potential lockout or allowing them to steal your belongings.
