How Does Wavelength Affect Frequency

The number of complete wavelengths in a given unit of time is called frequency (f). As a wavelength increases in size, its frequency and energy (E) decrease. From these equations you may realize that as the frequency increases, the wavelength gets shorter. As the frequency decreases, the wavelength gets longer.

How does wavelength affects the frequency of the wave?

Frequency and wavelength are inversely proportional to each other. The wave with the greatest frequency has the shortest wavelength. Twice the frequency means one-half the wavelength.

Why does frequency decrease as wavelength increases?

Because there is an inverse relationship between frequency and wavelength. Frequency has the units of cycles per second. If you double the frequency there needs to be twice as many cycles per unit time.
