Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin and rub it in gently. Do not use the cream for more than 8 weeks unless your doctor has told you to. Do not cover the treated skin area unless your doctor told you to do so.

What are the side effects of Dovonex?

Burning, itching, rash, irritation, redness, dry skin, or peeling at the application site may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Is Dovonex a steroid?

Vitamin D receptors belong to a larger superfamily of steroid receptors that help modulate immune function. It is presumed that, by binding to them, Dovonex can temper the inflammatory response triggered by autoimmune antibodies, thereby slowing the buildup of skin cells in the outer layer of skin (epidermis).
