To stay healthy, guinea pigs need between four and six hours of sleep a day. However, cavies are kings of the power nap and will usually only sleep a couple of minutes at a time to recharge. Older guinea pigs or those that have settled into a routine may rest for up to 30 minutes at a time.
Is it normal for guinea pigs to sleep during the day?
Guinea pigs frequently sleep throughout the day, taking 10-30 minutes naps. However, this varies. Some guinea pigs take short naps, some sleep for only four hours each day, and others may fall asleep for up to eight hours.
Guinea pigs don't have a specific time where they sleep, but will usually sleep on average about 6 hours a day. While I was filming our most recent vlog, you may notice certain sleeping habits of my own guinea pigs. My guinea pigs tend to sleep when I sleep.
