In terms of Mint, XFCE seems to be the ‘lightest’, but 2GB is not alot to run on (for modern OS), so it might still be sluggish from time to time. I run it (XFCE 18.1) on a 3GB Acer Travelmate, and it is fine for day-to-day internet browsing etc.
