Hardie Plank is also called fiber cement siding. While it’s far heavier than aluminum, vinyl or wood, it is extremely durable and typically only needs a new paint every ten to twenty years for maintenance. It is one of the best materials and long-term solutions for protecting your home.
How often does fiber cement siding need to be painted?
If you purchase prefinished fiber cement siding, you don’t need to worry about painting it when it’s time to install. Unfinished styles on the other hand should be painted shortly after installation. For both types, a new paint job can be done every 10 to 15 years.
How long does paint last on cement board?
Most paint cycles are around 10 to 15 years (though the coatings on our Architectural Wall Panels can last much longer), but that timeframe can be extended if the siding is maintained and inspected for damage on a regular basis.
