How do you wire up a bulb holder?

With all screw type light bulb holder its important to connect the live wire (Brown) to the centre pin of the lamp holder. The best way to do this is to find the centre pin, follow the metal back to the point it connects to the screw terminal on the other side. This is the Live terminal.

Do porcelain light fixtures need to be grounded?

Porcelain and plastic fixture don’t have provision for a ground wire because there is nothing to ground. If the box is metal it should be grounded as described.
