How Was Surtur Born?

Origin. The Fire Giant Surtur was native to the extra-dimensional plane of Muspelheim and was the mortal enemy of the Asgardian ruler Odin and his son Thor. Surtur and the Ice Giant Ymir were older, and therefore more powerful immortals than Odin and Thor, who were always hard pressed to defeat them.

Where is Surtur from?

Surtur was an enormous fiery demon native to the dimension of Asgard. Possessed of evil intelligence and vast power, Surtur was one of the major elemental forces of evil that the Asgardians feared.

How did Surtur get his powers?

Loki deceives Surtur with an illusion until Odin recovers, who battles the fire demon until both fall into a dimensional rift. After a long absence Odin returns to Asgard, and it is revealed that he absorbed Surtur's essence, which eventually possesses him.
