Pickets are the vertical members of a wood fence. Pickets can be installed tight to each other or with a space between them. Typically, pickets are 3 1/2″ wide, 5 1/2″ or as much as 11 1/2″ wide, if you are going to use dimensional kiln-dried lumber.
How wide are standard pickets?
Standard width of pickets is 62mm (+/-0.5mm). Standard picket thickness is either 18mm or 12mm (+/-1mm). Standard picket heights are 800mm and 1200mm (+/-2mm). Other picket heights can be manufactured to order (up to a maximum of 2400mm).
How wide are space pickets?
- Much like solid fence, install your first picket against the house or at the end of the rails.
- Using a jig for spacing, space your next picket 2 ½” away.
- You will have to level every picket on a picket fence.
