Is Centipede Grass Good

Centipede grass is known for its excellent heat tolerance and extremely low maintenance requirements. A favorite of lawn owners interested in minimal upkeep, Centipede requires far less attention and input than other grasses in its growing region.

What are the advantages of centipede grass?

Advantages. Centipedegrass does very well in acidic (pH 4.5–6.5) and infertile soils. It has fair shade tolerance and survives drought conditions by going dormant, which results in brown turf (Figure 2). It can be established from seed, sod, or plugs, and it spreads by aboveground stems called stolons.

How fast will centipede grass spread?

Growing a centipede grass lawn takes time. The grass will grow slowly over the first year or two, but if you remain patient and ensure that the soil maintains the proper pH for centipede grass, the grass will spread quickly by the third year.
