Is It Holism or Holistic?

The term holism is derived from the Greek ὅλος (“holos”), meaning whole, and Smuts coined the adjective holistic. To Smuts, a whole is an entity, from a group of galaxies to the behaviour of electrons around an atom. A medical example could be an elderly woman with physical and mental health issues.

Is it Wholistically or holistically?

Is it holistic or wholistic? Holistic is an adjective that means considering all the parts of something as a cohesive whole. While it seems that wholistic would make more sense, holistic is the only accepted spelling.

Why is there no W in holistic?

Well, 'holistic' and 'holism' were coined artificially in the early 20th century by a philosopher (can't remember who); it is based on the word 'whole'. 'Whole', on the other hand didn't originally have the 'w' in it, but the 'w' was added naturally to reflect pronunciation at the time.
