While being antisocial may have a negative connotation, it is not necessarily a bad thing. You shouldn't feel bad about yourself if you loathe, rather than crave, social interaction. Some amount of social interaction is healthy and necessary, but solitude is also beneficial in many ways.
Is it OK not to be social?
Not having social relationships, especially in the long term, seems to have an effect on self-esteem, job or work performance, and overall communication skills. Further, scientific evidence has found health disorders in people who have little to no social relationships.
Is it bad to be asocial?
A degree of asociality is routinely observed in introverts, while extreme asociality is observed in people with a variety of clinical conditions. Asociality is not necessarily perceived as a totally negative trait by society, since asociality has been used as a way to express dissent from prevailing ideas.
