Is Jill Ellis Retiring

CHICAGO (July 30, 2019) – Jill Ellis, who led the U.S. Women’s National Team to historic back-to-back FIFA Women’s World Cup titles in Canada (2015) and France (2019), will step down as head coach following the completion of the Victory Tour in early October.

Why did Jill Ellis retire?

She said during the call-up, Ellis offered to lay out her reasoning for keeping her off the roster, but Krieger declined the explanation. “I just felt like I was in such a better place and I’d moved forward that I didn’t want to take those steps back and be petty and hash this out,” Krieger said.

How much does Jill Ellis make a year?

Before stepping down in the fall of 2019, Ellis had a base salary of $516,352 — the largest for a women’s national team coach in the world — and 32 percent higher than her 2018 figure of $390,000. Her bonus for winning the World Cup in France was more than double what she received after her first world title in 2015.
