Is Mud Poisonous

There are no specific poisonous ingredients in dirt. But dirt might contain chemicals that kill insects or plants, fertilizers, parasites, bacterial toxins (poisons), fungi (mold), or animal or human waste.

Can you eat mud to survive?

No. You have to regularly eat all of the essential nutrients in order to survive. Dirt may contain some favorable bacteria. If you grew your vegetables in dirt and didn’t soak them in chlorox before you ate them, you should get plenty of the dirt bacteria to round out your basic plant-based diet.

Can your body digest clay?

What’s more, some research suggests that clay can bind to nutrients in the stomach, making them hard to digest. If that’s true, it’s not a lack of nutrients that causes geophagy; rather it could be the other way around.
