Is Oradea Worth Visiting?

Is Oradea worth the hardship of travelling from Hungary or one of Romania's central city's? Most definitely. The Holy Cross Monastery alone is worth it. Add in all that architecture, some neat churches and what I percived as a relaxed way of life, and I could easily say its a place where a few days could be spent.

Is Oradea a safe city?

In terms of major problems and on a Romanian scale, Oradea is fairly safe. On a Western European scale, the city is even safer. In fact, you will rarely find problems with organised crime against tourists, or more serious offences. What you will find more abundantly, unfortunately are petty scams or thefts.

What is Oradea known for?

Oradea is famous for its thermal springs. The river Crişul Repede crosses the city right through the center, providing it with a picturesque beauty. Its flow depends on the season; the dykes near Tileagd have partly controlled it since they were built in the early 1980s.
