Is Surprised a Feeling?

What is surprise? Surprise is one of the seven universal emotions and arises when we encounter sudden and unexpected sounds or movements. As the briefest of the universal emotions, its function is to focus our attention on determining what is happening and whether or not it is dangerous.

What is the feeling of being surprised?

Surprises also intensify emotions, for better or worse. If we're surprised with something positive, we'll feel more intense feelings of happiness or joy than we normally would; if we're surprised by something negative, our feelings of anger, despair or unhappiness will also intensify.

Is surprised a positive feeling?

Surprise has been depicted as a pre-affective state, or as an emotion that can be both positive and negative, depending on the goal conduciveness of the surprising event.
