Is the Bungle Bungles Open?

Purnululu National Park is only open during the dry season months from April-November (weather permitting). During the wet season season months of December-March, heavy rains make access to the area difficult, and often impossible.

Can you walk around the Bungle Bungles?

Famous for the striking “beehive” sandstone domes with their alternating orange and grey bands, visitors can walk on designated trails to explore this wondrous area. The most popular walk in the Bungle Bungles, located in the southern section of the park, is an easy to moderate 3km return walk.

What animals live at the Bungle Bungles?

Birds such as honeyeaters, doves, wood swallows and finches are in abundance. More elusive species include the white-quilled rock pigeon and the Australian bustard. There is at least one endemic lizard species, Lerista bungle bungle, a very rare small skink.
