Uveitis detected primarily in the anterior chamber is termed anterior uveitis (Fig. 34.1), which is also known as iritis or iridocyclitis. Inflammation primarily involving the vitreous is termed intermediate uveitis, and uveitis located in the retina or choroid is called posterior uveitis.
What is an iridocyclitis?
Iridocyclitis (ear-ih-doh-sy-CLY-tis) is inflammation of the iris and ciliary body, structures in the middle layer of the eye (uvea).
How many types of iridocyclitis are there?
Pan-uveitis (all parts of the eye)
When the inflammation affects all major parts of the eye, it's called pan-uveitis. It often involves a combination of features and symptoms from all three types of uveitis.
