J. J. Barea

Jose Juan Barea Mora, better known as J. J. Barea, is a Puerto Rican professional basketball player who most recently played for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks (NBA). On December 10, 2020, the Dallas Mavericks waived him. He began his basketball career at Northeastern University before joining the Mavericks in 2006, becoming the NBA’s eighth Puerto Rican player. He’s also appeared in the NBA Development League and the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, among other leagues.

He was also a member of the Puerto Rican national squad that won gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2006 and 2010. They won the gold medal in the 2011 Pan American Games and the silver medal in the 2007 Pan American Games as a point guard for Puerto Rico.
