James Caan, whose real name is James Edmund Cann, was born on 26 March 1940 in The Bronx, New York, the U.S. as the son of his father, Arthur Caan, and mother, Sophie Caan. His father used to be a meat dealer and butcher. He has one brother, Ronnie Caan, and one sister, Barbara Caan.
Caan married four times where he first married in 1961 to Dee Jay Mathis where they gave birth to their daughter, Tara in the year 1964 but, divorced in 1966. After that, he married Sheila Marie Ryan in the year 1976 but they divorced the next year of their marriage. They also gave birth to their son, Scott Caan together on 23 August 1976. Later, in 1990, he married Ingrid Hajek and gave birth to their son, Alexander James Caan in 1991 and divorced in 1994.
On October 7, 1995, he married Linda Stokes where they both gave birth to their sons, James Arthur Caan in 1995 and Jacob Nicholas Caan in 1998. They were also divorced in 2017.
