The baseball player was born Jose Canseco Capas Jr. on the 2nd of July, 1964. His hometown is Regla, a borough of Havana, Cuba. He has an identical twin brother by the name of Osvaldo Canseco Capas. Jose Canseco’s brother also played professional baseball briefly.

Their parents are Jose Jr. and Barbara Canseco, and they were both of recent Spanish lineage to Cuba. They also had a daughter who was born 10 years before the twins. Canseco’s father used to work as a territory manager for the oil and gasoline corporation Esso and as a part-time English teacher.

He lost his job as the era of Fidel Castro was beginning and eventually moved his family to the United States and settled in Miami. While there, he was hired as a territory manager by another oil and gasoline corporation.
