Kacper Tekieli Passed Away: What Caused His Death?

The devastating news of Kacper Tekieli’s demise has brought shock to his followers and plunged his loved ones into mourning. A participant of the Polish Winter Himalaism program (2010-2015), Kacper engaged in expeditions to Makalu and Broad Peak Middle. He also took part in a rescue mission on Shivling in the Indian Himalayas (6543 m) with Pawe Karczmarczyk in 2016.

Kacper achieved the scaling of around 300 distinct routes in the Tatra Mountains, including many notable walls of Polish and Slovak peaks, frequently performing these feats solo. His climbing endeavors extended to Alaska, the Caucasus, Norway, and the Alps, conquering the renowned “Alpine Trilogy” of northern faces: the Eiger, Matterhorn, and Grandes Jorases.

During a vacation in Switzerland, Kacper aimed to climb all 82 of the Alps’ four-thousand-meter peaks. He was also an expert mountaineer, partaking in the rescue mission to Shivling in 2016 and being nominated for the esteemed Piolet d’Or award after establishing a new route to Snovasskjerdingan in Norway.

Prior to the unfortunate event, Kacper and Justyna Kowalczyk had openly shared their hobbies on social media. Justyna, an Olympic gold medallist, posted a heartfelt message on her husband’s Instagram picture. Kacper’s fatal accident occurred while he was ascending the Jungfrau in Switzerland, amidst challenging conditions. Tekieli, an instructor for the PZA, had embarked on expeditions to the Karakorum and the Himalayas.

Recognized as a climbing instructor with the Polish Mountaineering Association, Kacper achieved remarkable feats, including surpassing a previous record in August 2020 by finishing the Tatra Mountains’ Great Crown ascent in more than 11 hours. Additionally, he, along with Maciej Ciesielski and Piotr Suowski, became the first to complete the Expander’s winter ascent.
