A family in Kahawa is mourning the death of two young sons after an immersion heater sparked and caused fire in their house.

According to the kid's uncle, Nathan Davis, the two boys were in the house with their sister, who was sleeping in one of the bedrooms when the incident occurred near Maziwa along Kamiti Road next to PCEA Kahawa Farmers Church.

"His wife Maureen left for work in the morning as she had an early appointment in Thika town and Tony was left at home with his teenage son Cliff, teenage daughter Roseanne, and the two little boys Steve and John who were 5 and 3 years old respectively," Nathan told TUKO.co.ke in an interview.

"Around 11.00 am Tony, left the house briefly to grab something at a nearby shop and that is when the immersion heater plugged into a socket behind one of the sofas in the sitting room sparked a fire that spread so fast and so furious, changing our lives forever," he added. .

He also revealed that upon realising that there was fire, the terrified boys ran to their sister in the bedroom and locked themselves up.

Tony fights to save his children

Due to the flammable household goods, the fire spread so quickly, and in a split second, heat pressure caused the windows to burst, attracting the neighbours.

"The screams of the youngsters echoed the harrowing scene as first responders thronged to aid in any way possible to contain the situation. At that moment, Tony, their father, was equally dismayed by the unfolding incident and swung into action to save his kids," said Nathan.

"By the time he managed to brave up, get a blanket over himself as the strong, caring and loving courageous father he is, have water poured all over him so as to go in and rescue his children, the fire was already commanding the site with unmatched fury and wrath," added the devastated uncle.
