Sammy Watkins is an American football wide receiver, who plays for the NFL side Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football at Clemson University for three seasons.

Samuel Benjamin Watkins IV was born on 14 June 1993 in Fort Myers, Florida, United States. He is the son of Sammy Watkins III and Nicole McMiller. His father played high school football at Cypress Lake in Fort Myers. Meanwhile, his mother worked in accounting for Radio, and TV. His half-brother Jaylen Watkins is a football safety for the NFL team, Houston Texans.

Sammy’s parents were divorced and his mother later remarried James McMiller. He has a stepbrother Jari McMiller, and two stepsisters; Markesha and Mykelah McMiller.

Watkins attended South Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, Florida, where he was involved in football, basketball, and track & field. He was recruited by dozens of schools but he committed to Clemson University in November 2010. There, he played college football for three seasons from 2011 to 2013.

His NFL Career

The Buffalo Bills drafted Sammy in the first round as the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Later, he signed a four-year contract, worth $19.94 million, with a $12.8 million signing bonus on 28 May 2014. There, he was ranked 96th by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.

Watkins played for three seasons for the Bills and was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for E. J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round draft pick in August 2017.

After playing for a season, Watkins signed a three-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, worth $48 million in March 2018. He made his Chiefs debut against the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2018 season opener game.
