Garnett’s mother never married O ‘Lewis McCullough, his father. Ernest Irby, Garnett’s stepfather, was always there in his life. But Garnett and his two sisters didn’t recognize Ernest as his father.

When Garnett was in high school in Mauldin, he developed a passion for basketball. And he had been playing since he was a child. However, he feared being targeted as a result of a cast racial dispute, so he transferred to Farragut Career Academy High School in Chicago.
