Kilea Registration for Learners: Requirements and Procedure

Kenya made a major education overhaul – replacing the 38-year-old 8-4-4 system with a new 2-6-3-3-3 system that aims to fit society's needs better. The new education system has been accompanied by a transformative change in the testing of learners. Now, in its second year, the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will take centre stage. However, most people are still unfamiliar with KILEA – including its requirements and registration process.

The registration of learners wishing to sit for the 2024 Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) is ongoing. It commenced on January 29th 2024, and ends on March 29th 2024.

What is the meaning of KILEA?

The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) developed by KNEC is administered to learners in the intermediate level who are ready to transition to the pre-vocational level.

Want to register for KILEA exams? The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has introduced the KILEA portal, an online platform designed to streamline the registration process for stage-based learners.

All stage-based learners must have valid assessment numbers to be registered from the KILEA portal. Those without assessment numbers are registered through the normal registration process in the CBA portal under the intermediate portal. Here are the steps on how to register learners through the KILEA portal:

• Go to the CBA portal and log in using valid credentials, which include username and password.

• Upon successfully logging into the CBA portal, click the "KILEA portal" button. (The KILEA portal homepage shall be generated to register KILEA learners).
• Click the "Register Learner of KILEA" button to generate the registration page.
• Enter the assessment number and click on the "Search" button. (Learner details shall appear for verification and updating to register).
• To edit or add missing learner details, click on the specific field to key in or select details where applicable.
• You must select one or more disability options.

Note: Upon successfully saving learner details, you'll get a confirmation message: "KILEA learner details amended successfully."
