How do I manually update my Kindle? To manually update your Kindle Paperwhite software, press the Start button, then the hamburger menu button and select Settings. Press the hamburger menu button again and select Update your Kindle. If this option is grayed out or cannot be selected, you have downloaded the wrong version of the software update.

When is update on Kindle Fire?

• Swipe down from the top of the screen and select the settings gear. You can also select the Settings app on the home screen to access your device's settings.
• Scroll down and select Device Settings.
• Scroll down and select System Updates.
• Select Check now to see if updates are available.
