Cale Makar, age 20, was born as Cale Douglas Makar in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is the eldest son of his parents, Gary Makar and Laura MacGregor. Cale’s younger brother, Taylor is also an ice hockey player currently associated with Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Cale Makar commenced his amateur hockey career playing for NWCAA Bruins in the HCBAA league during the 2011-2012 season. Following that, he went on to play for Calgary Flames Bantam in the next season before joining the NWCAA Stampeders’ rooster during the 2013-14 season.
The defenceman also had a three-season stint with Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2014 to 2017. There, he recorded 35 goals and 100 assists in as many as 111 games.
