Harris Kimberly Faulkner was born on 19 October 1965 to parents Bobby R. Harris and Shirley Harris. Her father was a United States Army officer and Army Aviator. The Atlanta native spent her early age in different places that include Stuttgart, Germany.
Standing at the height of 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 meters), Faulkner went to the University of California, Santa Barbara. There, she graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Media Studies.
Initially, Harris was a freelance business writer on LA Weekly. She began her television career as an anchor and reporter for CNS-affiliated WNCT-TV in 1991. After WNCT-TV, she worked as a primary evening news anchor for a Fox-affiliated WDAF-TV from 1992 to 1999.

Similarly, Faulkner worked as an evening news anchor for ABC-affiliated KSTP-TV for four years joining in 2000. In 2005, she joined a revival of a syndicated program, A Current Affair as a correspondent, where she worked for several months. Harris moved to Fox News in 2008 and took the responsibilities on covering the major events on the network. In October 2017, she began her new talks show Outnumbered Overtime.
