He shared a sibling bond with his brothers: a famous Irish Fine Gael politician, Eoghan Murphy, and the well-known playwright, Colin Murphy.

As of his educational background, Killian joined University College Dublin and studied English and Philosophy. Subsequently, he flew to London and joined the Drama Centre with the hopes of pursuing his career in the acting industry.
