She belongs to a well-educated family as her father Arinze Ejiofor was a doctor, and her mother, Obiajulu Ejiofor was a pharmacist. Her family consists of an elder brother Chiwetel Ejiofor, an award-winning actor and director and a sister Kandibe Asher, a medical doctor.

Zain got graduated from Keble College at Oxford University with a degree in Spanish and French in 2005.
