Lee Mack was born on August 4, 1968, in Southport, Lancashire, England, as Lee Gordon McKillop. He and his brother, Darren McKillop, were raised in their hometown.

Mack came to Blackburn when he was 12 years old, after his parents divorced. Mack went to Southport’s Birkdale County Junior School and Stanley High School. He also attended Everton High School in Blackburn to further his education. Mack began working as a stable boy at a bingo hall after completing his education. He then went on to work at the Pontins vacation resort in Hemsby, Norfolk, as a Blue Coat entertainment. Mack went on to Brunel University, where he got a master’s degree in theater. In 1994, he performed his first “open mic” role after working a variety of different jobs. Mack began his profession in 1997 as a gas station attendant. He was a cast member of ITV’s The Sketch Show in 2001. He starred in the television show Live at the Apollo from 2005 to 2010.
