Lightheaded When Eating Spicy Food

Can you faint from eating spicy food?

yes and no. Theoretically, spicy food could seriously hurt you at high enough levels — but your body probably wouldn’t let that happen. You would have to keep eating extremely hot food, past the point of sweating, shaking, vomiting, and maybe feeling like you’ll pass out. So it’s safe to say spicy food won’t kill you.

Why do I get dizzy when I eat hot food?

It’s caused by increased blood flow to the stomach and intestines, which takes blood flow away from other parts of the body. As a result, the heart rate speeds up to pump more blood through the body. The blood vessels also tighten. Both factors can cause a person to feel dizzy after eating.
