Luka Garza was born in the capital city of the United States in Washington, D.C. His parents are Frank and Sejla Garza. 

Furthermore, both of the basketballer’s parents are experienced basketballers. Frank was a basketball forward for the Idaho Vandals, while Sejla played professional basketball in Europe.

Hence, the Hawkeye player was quite well-acquainted with the sport from a young age. Besides that, his mother works as an executive assistant for the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Likewise, his paternal grandfather James Halm played collegiate basketball in Hawaii. Moreover, the athlete’s uncle Teoman Alibegović was a champion scorer for the Slovenia national basketball team.

So, it is safe to say that Luka has abundant basketball influence in his life.

Graza’s family’s respective basketball careers influenced his love and opinions about basketball. As a young kid, Frank trained and coached his son.

The player attended Maret School, where he played high school basketball. He was an exceptional player for the Maret Fighting Frogs. 

Although the collegiate basketballer had several recruitment offers from reputable colleges, he attended the University of Iowa. He has won several awards for the Hawkeyes and is one of their best centers.

The Hawkeye player recently turned 24–years old on December 27, 2023. As an athlete, Luka takes great care of his health and diet. 

Hence, Graza is very fit and has a toned physique. With his regular exercise and balanced diet, he weighs around 242 lb, i.e., 120 kg.

While playing with the Iowas, he weighed around 268 pounds. He kept working on his weight, and in a few weeks, he dropped his weight to 242 pounds. He focused on weight loss to prepare for the NBA.
