She went to Marple Newtown High School in Philadelphia’s Marple Newtown School District. She later enrolled at Brandeis University, where she earned a BA in Theater in 1978. Marta Kauffman also studied acting at New York City’s Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater. In 1974, she performed as a thespian and student director in the school production “Our Town.”
