Martin Lawrence is an American comedian, actor, and producer who has won numerous honors and is renowned for his comedic abilities. 

He was born in Germany in 1965. At the time, his father, John Lawrence, was a serving army officer stationed there. After his parents’ divorce, his uncle’s mother held a variety of professions. His parents’ separation left the family, which included six children, struggling to make ends meet. Martin was given his name in honor of the illustrious civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Lawrence attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School and Friendly High School for his high school education.

In Martin Lawrence’s early life, he got a chance to perform on Star Search soon after graduating, which led to a part in What’s Happening Now! in 1985.
